Adam and Jacob

Hi Girls! Here is an update on Jacob and Adam. Jacob is back in the hospital. The Marine doctors continue to look for the issue. Apparently, he is suffering from internal bleeding and they do not know why. Aunt Kathy had taken him to the family doctor while he was home on leave. They were concerned because of the amount of weight he had lost. We'll keep you posted.

Adam had his court date yesterday and was sentenced to 10 years in prison and 6 additional years of probation. He began his sentence immediately. The pre-trial recommendations (there were 2) were 1 - 4 and 4 - 7 years. The judge gave him 10. I was at the hearing and it was brutal. Both families suffered. I'm not sure giving Adam 10 years will make it right. He'll be housed in the Dodge County Jail until they decide which institution he'll be placed in. Keep him in your prayers. He's going to need them.

Lisa and Brandon

Jan and I met Brandon this weekend. He came to visit on Saturday and Sunday before heading back to U of I. I'll let Lisa or Jan fill you on the details. Give either of them a call sometime.

Bauman Park

It was still a little cold and the lake was mostly frozen but it didn't stop us from walking at Bauman Park last weekend. By now I'm sure the lake is completely thawed.

Midway Village Path

Jan and I went to the Midway Village walking path yesterday. Winter is fading and there is the promise of spring but the landscape is still a little dreary. We thought we would take a walk and I'm glad we did. The path is great. It's nice and flat. We saw Cardinals, Red-tailed Hawks, a Partridge, Red-Winged Black birds and a variety of chickadees and finches.

There are many memorials along the walk and as we return we'll spend a little more time reading them. Too many to do all at once.

We passed the LZ War Memorial and I'll have more on that in the next post.

Along the path you'll see old farm equipment in the woods. It's been there long enough for the trees to grow around it. There were plows, 2 row corn planters and a big ball of barbed wire.

We also managed to catch a quick glance at a Red-Tailed hawk. He landed in a tree just into the woods but didn't stay long.

This is just one of the homes you can see from the path. As you can see the path is in the middle of the high rent district.
